Dr. Jose Navarro, DMD
Dr. Navarro is a dual certified dental specialist in Orthodontics and DentoFacial Orthopedics and Pediatric Dentistry. He was born in Managua, Nicaragua and moved to Florida when he was 11 years old to start a new life full of dreams and hope. He played baseball at Nova High School in Davie, Florida and won the 2004 Florida Baseball State Championship played at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. Baseball opened the doors to an education at LaGrange College in Georgia where he played baseball for four years and earned an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry.
During Dr. Navarro’s college years, he shadowed a local dentist and was immediately drawn to the field. This led him to pursue and earn his DMD degree with honors from the Medical College of Georgia (now The Dental College of Georgia, Augusta University). He practiced as a general dentist in Warner Robins, Georgia and then moved to Brooklyn, NY to complete his first specialty in Pediatric Dentistry at NYU Lutheran. It was during his training in pediatric dentistry that Dr. Navarro was exposed to Orthodontics and realized that creating beautiful smiles gave him great satisfaction and he could vastly impact the life of his patients. After practicing as a pediatric dentist in Queens, NY he went on to complete his second specialty in Orthodontics and DentoFacial Orthopedics at NYU Hospitals Center, where he received the Theodore L. Jerrold award in recognition for outstanding achievement and graduating first in his class.
Dr. Navarro is not the average Orthodontist. His two specialties have given him a better understanding of growth and development that gives him the ability to treat complex cases that require surgical intervention, growth modification with Orthopedics, and craniofacial anomalies in conjunction with craniofacial teams. He has ample experience with Invisalign and can treat routine and complex cases with aligners.
Dr. Navarro lives in Lutz with his wife, Kelly, and has served the Tampa Bay community for the last four years. They like to explore Tampa (and the world!), entertain, cook and eat new foods. He enjoys playing softball (when not recovering from a knee injury). He likes to help the community by sponsoring local schools, little league teams and donating wood bats to ball players. Dr. Navarro regularly returns to Nicaragua to share his specialty knowledge and expertise by treating underprivileged children in conjunction with local dentists.
